Internships
The Mac Daily is looking for interns for the 2009-2010 academic year. If interested, please contact Bernie Larkin at blarkin@themacdaily.com.
Internship Information
Requirements: The Mac Daily is looking for one intern from each Mid-American Conference school. The intern will cover home events for football and volleyball in the fall, men's and women's basketball in the winter and baseball and softball in the spring. Each intern should have at least one year of journalism experience for either the school newspaper or another source.
Why should I apply: Although this is an unpaid internship, our goal is to not just have an intern add to their resume and throw in some extra clips, but to truly grow as a sports writer. We know that although journalism schools offer amazing learning experiences for hard news journalists, sports journalism is often overlooked. It is the goal of this internship program to help our interns improve their writing abilities, as well as learning what it takes to get that first sports job after graduation and how to advance in the field. The internship program will last either for the fall semester of 2009 or for both the fall and spring semesters (2009-2010) depending on the intern's desire.
